Death Stranding 2: On the Beach laptop PC requirements

Starting at GTX 1650 Max-Q

Kojima Productions has released the PC port system requirements for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach specifically for laptops. From the way it’s presented, this appears to be a first for the wider games market.

Performance targets: 720p, Full HD and 60 fps

The studio published a table showing what mobile GPUs should be sufficient for different presets:

  • 720p at 30 fps: GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q or Radeon RX 5500M
  • Full HD at 30 fps: GTX 1660 Ti or RX 6550M
  • Full HD at 60 fps: RTX 4060 Laptop or RX 6850M XT

Overall, the bar isn’t especially high, although the listed resolutions only go up to Full HD.

Decima engine and a more careful approach to requirements

Part of the credit for these relatively modest demands likely sits with the Decima engine, which can deliver very impressive visuals while typically asking noticeably less of the hardware than games built on Unreal Engine 5.

What matters just as much is the way the requirements have been handled. Developers often publish PC specs rather casually: the lists can be full of mistakes, vague entries, or GPU recommendations that don’t align with what those cards can actually deliver.

Here, by contrast, we’re looking at requirements separated out for laptops. Previously, it’s worth recalling that the Crimson Desert developers went even further, putting out what may be the most detailed system requirements ever-covering PC, Mac, PlayStation/Xbox consoles, and even the Xbox ROG handheld devices.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach launches on PC tomorrow, 19 March.
