Amazon’s Black Friday promotion finally puts the PS5 Pro within easier reach. Sony’s most powerful console is seeing a discount we haven’t previously seen, but quantities are limited-so anyone interested shouldn’t hang about.
As the top-tier version of Sony’s well-known console, the PS5 Pro launched at €799, a price that raised eyebrows. For Black Friday, though, Amazon is cutting €100 off, bringing it down to €699, and throwing in FC 26 as a freebie (digital version).
If you’re after something more capable than the standard PS5, this is a very strong option. Do note that this is the digital version, so there’s no built-in Blu-ray drive. That said, you can still buy the drive separately later if you decide you want it. In short, this is the first time we’ve seen this level of discount, and it’s taken Black Friday for it to happen.
The PS5 Pro Black Friday deal on Amazon: price, bundle and stock
It’s hard to say when an opportunity like this will come back around, so it’s worth grabbing while it’s available. Amazon is also delivering the PS5 Pro in just a few days-quick enough that it could easily make it under the Christmas tree. Delivery is free, and the box includes Sony’s two-year warranty.
Delivery, warranty and returns (until 31 January)
If you’re buying it as a Christmas present and it turns out the recipient isn’t keen, you have until 31 January to send it back for a refund. That saves you from having to flog it at a loss on Leboncoin-or, worse, being left stuck with it.
Why is it worth it (and worth the cost)?
For the first time since release, Amazon is listing the PlayStation 5 Pro at under €700 for Black Friday. But beyond the €100 discount (and the free FC 26), the real question is what this chassis is actually offering-despite looking like a straightforward “upgrade”. The answer lies in specs that are no longer particularly close to the original model.
The graphics architecture is where the biggest change sits. Sony has moved from 36 compute units on the standard PS5 to 60 compute units on the Pro. In raw output, that’s a jump from 10.23 Tflops to 33.5 Tflops. This isn’t a minor bump; it’s a leap that enables advanced Ray Tracing (2 to 4 times faster) that previously couldn’t be handled without the console struggling.
Where the regular PS5 often had to rely on blurry dynamic resolutions to maintain 60 FPS, the Pro brings in PSSR. This dedicated AI hardware analyses every pixel to upscale the image with high precision. On a 4K display, the clarity is on another level-even on fine details like foliage, mesh fencing and hair-while also freeing up performance headroom to keep motion smoother.
Memory capacity stays at 16 GB, but speed has been improved. Bandwidth rises to 576 GB/s (up from 448 GB/s), helping to remove micro-stutters in dense open-world areas. The Zen 2 processor also gains a “Boost” mode at 3.85 GHz, aimed at keeping things perfectly stable even when the action on-screen gets hectic.
On the hardware side, this PS5 Pro “Digital Edition” is modular. As mentioned earlier, you can clip on the Blu-ray disc drive whenever you like (sold separately). Naturally, it works with all standard-model accessories, including the DualSense controller with its immersive haptic feedback-and it’s also compatible with the PS VR2 headset, which benefits significantly from the extra power to deliver sharper VR visuals (no more blur effect on Horizon Call of the Mountain).
In short: if you already own a PS5 and want a meaningful step up, the PS5 Pro makes sense. And if you’re new to PlayStation altogether, €699 is a far more welcoming entry point than the original launch price.
