Price and availability

Priced at about $116

Xiaomi has unveiled the Smart Camera 4 Max AI Zoom Edition, a higher-end indoor security camera built around a dual-lens setup, 12x zoom and AI-powered tools. The device is priced at 799 yuan (around $116), with crowdfunding set to begin on 8 April.

Camera hardware, zoom and night vision

The camera uses two sensors: a 12-megapixel telephoto unit with autofocus and an f/1.6 aperture for close-up shots, plus an 8-megapixel ultra-wide module offering a 127° field of view.

It supports hybrid zoom up to 12x, along with 3x zoom without loss of quality. For after-dark monitoring, it provides full-colour night vision backed by 10 IR LEDs. A dedicated ISP processor also helps improve image quality in low-light conditions.

AI features, rotation and connectivity

Its headline capability is the AI feature set: the camera can recognise the behaviour of children, older people and pets, and can detect falls, inactivity and unusual events. It generates reports and lets you search recordings using keywords. Hardware-wise, it includes 360°/180° rotation, Wi‑Fi 6, Mi Home integration, a Mijia security chip, and storage via microSD up to 256 GB, cloud, or NAS.
