Confirmed: the issue affects more than just Chuwi laptops
The scandal around processor swapping in Chuwi laptops is continuing to escalate and has now moved beyond a single brand. Fresh evidence suggests that at least some Ninkear units may be in the same situation: the paperwork lists a Ryzen 5 7430U, but the machine is actually fitted with a Ryzen 5 5500U.
A ComputerBase reader using the handle Kdr backed this up with screenshots, showing that their Ninkear A15 Pro appears to have been affected by the same kind of substitution. They bought the laptop in late 2025.
AMD responds on Ryzen 5 7430U / Ryzen 5 5500U relabelling
The story has also reached AMD, which has issued a comment stressing that it has nothing to do with these practices.
"AMD recently became aware that Chuwi has unauthorisedly labelled AMD Ryzen 5 5500U products as Ryzen 5 7430U. AMD has never authorised, endorsed, or given tacit consent to the above actions in any form. AMD did not participate in any decisions regarding the labelling or marketing of these products and was not aware of this.
AMD follows clear and strict rules governing the naming, use, and labelling of its product models. Any unauthorised use of our model names or false labelling would seriously disrupt normal market order and may mislead consumers.
AMD has always attached great importance to the accuracy and transparency of product information and strives to maintain a fair and orderly market environment, as well as to protect the legitimate rights and interests of users. We take this matter with the utmost seriousness and reserve the right to pursue legal liability against the relevant parties in accordance with the law"
Refunds, affected lines, and a CPU-Z update
It is also worth noting that the Chinese distributor Hornington has already begun issuing refunds for these laptops to customers who contact the company. Hornington also identified three affected lines: CoreBook X 7430U, CoreBook Plus 7430U, and UBOX 7430U.
The CPU-Z developers have reacted too, releasing an update to their application. With the new version, the software now identifies these fake Ryzen 5 7430U APUs specifically as Ryzen 5 5500U.
Meanwhile, after its initial response that included threats towards the media, Chuwi continues to remain silent.
